What’s red and white and cute all over? The San Francisco Zoo’s newest tenant - a ten-month-old red panda.  If you’re in town, you have to add the zoo to your list of must-see spots in the Bay. He’ll be on display for the public to squeal over starting May 10.

He doesn’t have a name, and unfortunately, that honor has already been bestowed on the S.F. Zoo’s emeritus board member, Barry Lipman and his wife. They paid $31,000 for the rights, so we’ll get the next one guys, thanks.

Although they enjoy immense internet fame for being the cutest ever, red pandas are considered threatened. They belong to the Musteloidea family, and share more similarities with weasels and otters than traditional black and white pandas.

Pete Nelson of Animal Planet’s “Treehouse Masters,” built his enclosure. These luxury digs are pretty dope and also nicer than my Brooklyn apartment. A special episode of the show will air in June, showcasing the panda’s enclosure. In the meantime, look how cute he is!
