Take a tour of San Francisco's Chinatown

  Tour San Fran's popular Chinatown

It has often been called the “Paris of the West”. Beautiful scenery, food adventures, and just a short drive from one of the most famous wine regions in the world. San Francisco has it all. Maybe you have some things you know you want to do. The Golden Gate Bridge, Coit Tower, and Fisherman's Wharf, just to name a few. However, we've helped the travel planning process by giving you five tours you don't want to miss when visiting San Francisco.

Gourmet Chocolate Tour: If you're breathing, then it's probably safe to say you have a taste for melt-in-your-mouth sweets. The Gourmet Chocolate Tour takes visitors to San Francisco's best chocolate shops, chocolatiers, and cafes; some of which have gotten the praise of such notable figures as Oprah. You'll literally be stuffing your face with chocolate the entire time. So much so that they give you a goodie bag when you reach your limit of chocolate to save some of it for later.

Alcatraz Night Tour: There are several tours of Alcatraz throughout the day, but we recommend the night tour. For one, it's at night. Being one of the world's most famous prisons, there's something about touring it after the sun goes down. If you catch the tour the right time of year, you might even see the sun set behind the Golden Gate Bridge. The night tour also features special demonstrations and events that aren't offered during the day.

Muir Woods: Muir Woods is worth a visit, if for no other reason than driving across the Golden Gate Bridge. There are some great places on both sides of the bridge for snapping some photos. Muir Woods itself is known for the towering Redwood trees. This is a rare chance to see parts of nature you won't see elsewhere. Visitors can do their own tour of Muir Woods or go with a tour guide.

Anchor Steam Brewing Company: There are factory tours and then there are brewery tours. Anchor Steam Brewing Company is the flagship brewery in Northern California and worth a visit, whether you like beer or not. The culmination is the beer tasting at the end of the tour. And did we mention it's free! However, tours can be full weeks prior, so make phone reservations weeks or even months in advance.

Chinatown: While you may have visited various Chinatown's from around the world, you haven't been to this one. San Francisco's Chinatown is the largest in the world, offering some unique experiences, such as a tour of fortune cookie factories, of which you'll be able to try fortune cookies shortly after they're finished cooking. However, we recommend a walking tour of Chinatown, which highlights the architecture, culture, and food of Chinatown, offering experiences you wouldn't necessarily get just by walking through Chinatown.
