If you are planning to get out of town this week then be prepared to spend lots and lots of time at the airport. Inclement weather is delaying, and in some cases canceling, hundreds of flights during an already hectic travel week.

But fear not my aggravated aviators, because many airports around the country offer some pretty cool places to pony up to the bar and drink a few cold ones while you wait. Here are my five favorite airports to catch a buzz at during a long layover or delay.

Cibo Bistro and Wine Bar (Philadelphia International Airport): One of my least favorite airports to fly into or out of actually offers a pretty great Italian spot by Concourse B. The atmosphere of Cibo Bistro and Wine Bar is classy with a 25-foot ceiling, open kitchen and an impressive 45-foot long onyx bar. Wine connoisseurs can sample over 30 different types of reds and whites from around the world.

SweetWater Draft House (Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport): The world’s busiest airport also has one of the best watering holes to kill a few hours (and brain cells) in while waiting to board your next flight. Atlanta’s SweetWater Draft House is a beer lover’s delight, with mouthwatering microbrews made by the booze masters at this local brewery.

Heineken Lounge (Newark International Airport): Never has a delay in Newark been so much fun. The hip locale is covered in mood lighting and has the feel of a modern Big Apple nightclub. Of course since this is the Heineken Lounge, you should down a few of Netherland’s favorite beer, but you can always whet your whistle with many other drinks and even chow down with some gourmet treats.

New Belgium Hub Bar & Grill (Denver International Airport): One of the latest additions to the airport is New Belgium Hub & Grill, which was opened by the nearby New Belgium Brewery. Enjoy such favorites as the Fat Tire amber ale as you await your next flight out of Denver. Sticking with the theme of “green” at the airport, this bar uses recycled items in the form of stools and artwork. Remember that drinking in the Mile High City can cause you to get a little tipsy faster due to the thin air.

re:vive (John F. Kennedy International Airport): JetBlue’s chic Terminal 5 is probably one of the best places to get stranded in during your travels. In addition to the many delicious places to catch a bite to eat, like 5iveSteak and Piquillo, you can order up a few adult beverages and grub at various gate side tables with touch screen menus. The list includes many top beers, creative cocktails and more win than a vineyard in France.
