Will Winter Traveling Make You Happier? flickr: heather0714
"Winter Blues" has a different meaning in the south.

An MSNBC article reports that Tucson, Arizona “topped a list of the 10 happiest winter travel destinations in the U.S.”

Undertaken by Hilton Worldwide, a chain with numerous hotels even within single cities across the country, the study proved the most popular winter travel spots to be, not surprisingly, in southern areas like Florida and California.

Aymee Coget, CEO of the American Happiness Association, commented that, “People are indoors a lot during the winter and Seasonal Affective Disorder [SAD] is prevalent” – no pun intended.

Naturally, regardless of their state of happiness, most people in the U.S. enjoy traveling somewhere warm and bright during the winter months.

A couple of anomalies made the list, such as Seattle and Washington, D.C., because, no matter the weather conditions, “more urban amenities, including the number of restaurants and bars” also mattered to winter travelers.

For travelers looking into our cheap flight deals for winter getaways, Coget suggests that “taking more short getaways may provide a bigger boost than a single, longer vacation will.”

“It’s not rocket science,” she said. “When you’re having new experiences, you’re happier.”

No matter if you are considering taking many trips or saving up for just one, check out our deals to Hilton Worldwide’s top 10 winter destinations.
