CheapOair is at the movies

Traveling for me has become quite the addiction. I am always on the lookout for the next great destination to visit. While magazines, newspapers, and websites usually give me inspiration to book a flight and go, I often find that when I watch a movie it makes me want to travel. Here at CheapOair we compiled a short list of our top 10 favorite travel movies that have us daydreaming in the office and ready to book a flight.

This list is in no particular order of ranking and feels free to add your favorite by leaving a comment.

In Bruges (Bruges, Belgium): Starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, this 2008 Academy-Award nominated and Golden Globe winning film follows two men hiding out in a small town in Belgium. Yes they are in fact "In Bruges" throughout the movie and in my opinion the backdrop is absolutely perect. Yet in the movie Farrell's character loathes being stuck in this quiet and cold European city. His character prefers exciting and flashy cities like Paris or London. Gleeson, who plays his partner in crime, is the exact opposite and becomes a typical tourist (taking a boat ride, snapping pictures, and visiting top attractions). The twist and turns in this black comedy will make you want to book a ticket asap to the land of beer and chocolate.

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas (Las Vegas, Nevada): Based on the 1971 Hunter S. Thompson book, this film stars Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro as two junkies that take one hell of a ride through the desert en route to "Sin City" Las Vegas. You would think that a movie based mostly in a desert would be dry, but instead it is wildly entertaining and both actors showcase outstanding performances.

Under The Tuscan Sun (Tuscany, Italy): After finding out that her husband has been cheating on her, successful writer Frances Mayes, played by Diane Lane, decides to pack up her bags in San Francisco and take a much needed extended trip to Italy. Along the way she meets some very colorful characters. While this movie may be filed under "chick flick", it does also offer some pretty perfetto shots of Italy.

Bourne Trilogy (Worldwide): Although this collection of movies starring Matt Damon, who plays amnesia stricken Jason Bourne, is a fast paced and fun action movie, it is also a world traveler's dream trip. Throughout the three films Damon's character jaunts to such locations as Prague, Imperia, Rome, Zurich, Mykonos, Tangier, London, Berlin, Madrid, and Paris. That is a lot of frequent flyer miles!

Once (Dublin, Ireland): Real life musicians Glen Hansard (of popular Irish rock band The Frames) and Markéta Irglová star in this 2007 drama located in the Emerald Isle's most visited city. I found this movie to be entertaining from beginning to end. Plus being of Irish descent and a regular visitor to Dublin, it was great to see places I had visited myself when I was in that great city. The soundtrack is equally good.
