Grimaldi's Pizzeria in Brooklyn, NY

Grimaldi's Pizzeria in Brooklyn, New York

As a life long “Noo Yawka”, I truly appreciate the art of combining dough, tomato sauce, cheese and oregano into a meal. I have traveled around this great country of ours and have inhaled many a slice. Along the way I have compiled a list of places that will satisfy even the pickiest of pizza people.

Grimaldi’s Pizzeria: On your next vacation to New York, walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and stop into this Zagat Survey favorite. There is always a line outside of this extremely popular Brooklyn pizza palace. Both locals and visitors cram into cafeteria style tables covered in red and white checkered placemats. You can only order by the pie (no single slices allowed) and they only take cash. Wash down this thin crust goodness with a locally made Brooklyn lager. 19 Old Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY

Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria: This deep dish pizza is so beloved by its customers that many of them order it through the mail! That is because this Windy City establishment offers overnight express delivery of their mouth-watering moneymaker. If you are lucky enough to take a trip to Chicago, be sure to drop into the longtime locale and enjoy exposed brick walls covered by a plethora of sports memorabilia. 439 N Wells St, Chicago, IL

Regina Pizzeria: For over 80 years “Bean Town” locals and visitors alike have enjoyed this tasty North End landmark. Expect a wait when stopping by this small no frills eatery. But be patient and your belly will thank you later. Enjoy a drink at the tiny bar before diving into a slice – or eight. While there is a second pizzeria with the same name located in Quincy Market, skip it to experience the “Original North End Tradition.” 11 1/2 Thacher St, Boston, MA

Pauline’s Pizzeria: Contrary to popular belief, the West Coast does indeed have good pizza. Located in a corner two-story bright yellow building, this Bay Area joint caters more to a health conscious “foodie” crowd. Meals are made up of fresh organic ingredients and include exotic toppings like French feta cheese. Although Pauline takes her pizza making seriously, that is not the case with the dining experience. Guests are given large pieces of white paper and a bucket of crayons to doodle while they wait for their food. 260 Valencia, San Francisco, CA

Pizza Luce: A hip and trendy Minneapolis hangout located in the trendy Warehouse District. The place is usually swarming with young professionals looking for a cool place to spend the afternoon. The pizza’s toppings range from the typical (pepperoni and mushrooms) to the unique (banana peppers and baked potato). Stop in on the weekend to experience Luce’s great brunch and enjoy happy hour deals daily. 119 N Fourth St, Minneapolis, MN
