You know this classic rock hit that always gets an extra bit of radio play during this especially spooky time of year. Warren Zevon's Werewolves of London is an excellent Halloween anthem and a fun song to hum as you explore Central London. What's that lurking in the corner? Aaoooooooo!

As unreal as the notion of werewolves might be, Zevon's lyrics makes use of actual London locations to embellish his tale. Here's a breakdown of some of the lines from this famous song along with the details about the places you can visit.

I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand

Walking through the streets of Soho in the rain
He was looking for a place called Lee Ho Fook's

Gonna get a big dish of beef chow mein

Lee Ho Fook is indeed an actual Chinese restaurant. It's located on the main drag of Chinatown (which is indeed an area of Soho) at 15 Gerrard Street, W1D 5. It's a more than decent place to eat too – of course there's a lot of fierce competition for your custom on this street lined with Chinese restaurants. Whether or not beef chow mein is on the menu, that is something you'll need to find out for yourself.

He's the hairy handed gent who ran amuck in Kent

Lately he's been overheard in Mayfair

Better stay away from him

He'll rip your lungs out, Jim
I'd like to meet his tailor

Kent is a county to the southeast of London full of charming little towns like Tunbridge Wells, seaside villages renown for seafood such as Whitstable and major historic sites such as Canterbury Cathedral. From award-winning vineyards (no, really) to the remains of Viking settlements, Kent is great for day trips and extended breaks while keeping within easy reach of London.

As for Mayfair, well, that's arguably the poshest and most exclusive part of London. Louis Vuitton, Nobu, Gordon Ramsey … big name luxury brands, Michelin starred restaurants and celebrities all call Mayfair home. Not sure about any recent werewolf sitings though.

Well, I saw Lon Chaney walking with the Queen

Doing the Werewolves of London
I saw Lon Chaney, Jr. walking with the Queen

Doing the Werewolves of London

I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's

And his hair was perfect

Trader Vic's is a tiki-themed cocktail bar located at the end of spiral staircase descending below London Hilton on Park Lane hotel. It's open late, attracts an ogle-worthy international clientèle and (as much a werewolf might prefer to sip a pina colada) offers the place for the best Mai Tais in town along with an especially potent seven rum Zombie cocktail.

Aaoooooo! Werewolves of London!
