The Chicago restaurant scene is back on the map…and in a big way. The Windy City is now tied with New York City as home to the most AAA-Five Diamond Award winning restaurants in North America, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The 2012 AAA Five- and Four-Diamond Awards were announced Friday, highlighting the most prestigious restaurants and hotel properties in the world.

The five Chicago eateries that received the distinction this year include Alinea, Arun’s, Charlie Trotter’s, Everest, and Tru.

Foodies gearing up to board flights to Chicago also have plenty of options when it comes to finding Five Diamond accommodations. Four Chicago properties - the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, the Peninsula Chicago, the Elysian Hotel, and Trump International Hotel & Tower – received AAA-Five Diamond Awards.
