Old Warehouses/New Street: Wine and Dine Update for the City of London, IMG Cred: Chris Osburn

Enjoy a Taste of the British Seaside at Fish Market

The oldest surviving warehouses built by the East India Company, have been re-launched by restaurant group, D&D London, to create a modern British grill restaurant, cocktail bar, fish restaurant and a specialist wine shop. Constructed between 1768 and 1771 by the East India Company, the warehouse once stored spices, tea, cigars and port. The redevelopment of the East India Company warehouse into a modern dining destination sees the City of London and nearby areas continue to extend its relatively new found reputation as a foodie friendly part of town.

The new food and drink establishments have been designed by Conran & Partners and occupy the ground and basement floors of the Grade II listed Georgian brick warehouse which covers more than 10,000 square feet at New Street near Bishopsgate and Liverpool Street Station. Being so close to this mainline station, as well as just steps from both London's traditional financial district and the hipster playground of Shoreditch, means easy access to a great night out.

Here’s a bit about each of the newly opened venues:

New Street Grill

… a modern take on the British Grill restaurant. Dishes will include Native Lobster cocktail and main courses will feature Double rib eye on the bone, cooked on the Josper grill.

Fish Market

… a relaxed venue for customers to enjoy a taste of the best of the British seaside. The menu will feature classic English dishes such as cockles and whelks with a daily changing ‘fish of the day.’. Be sure to try the salt and pepper squid! Both Fish Market and New Street Grill will have outdoor seating within the building’s walled courtyard.

Old Bengal Bar

… a chic and atmospheric space dominated by exposed brick work and mirrored walls where guests will be able to sample an extensive choice of cocktails.

New Street Wine Shop

… will specialize in wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy and the space will be available for wine tastings and dinners.  A unique color spectrum system will ease customers through the process of identifying different styles of wine whilst expert sommeliers, the award-winning, Nicolas Clerc, will be on hand to give additional information and advice. Guests will be able to sample wines before purchasing using the enomatic wine dispenser.
