It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a flying human being?!

Over the past few weeks, dozens of New Yorkers and visitors in on flights to New York City have reported seeing “flying people” over the Manhattan skyline.

No, mass hysteria has not hit the Big Apple. The strange sightings are part of an ingenious viral marketing campaign by a company called Thinkmodo to promote the new film Chronicle. The sci-fi flick is due to hit theaters this weekend.

The flying “people” are actually modified remote control aircraft that weigh just over three pounds. After days of sporadically flying the craft in New York and New Jersey, the agency uploaded the above video to Youtube, showing exactly how they pulled off this stunning ad campaign.

What do you think of the viral campaign? Lame or effective? Tell us in a comment!
