According to published reports, First lady Michelle Obama will celebrate with a special White House tea party today. The White House Mother's Day event takes place in the East Room and will offer a lot of snacks to go with their tea.

The special guest list in Washington D.C. includes: former first lady Rosalynn Carter and her granddaughter, Sarah Carter; Tricia Nixon Cox, the daughter of President Richard Nixon; and Susan and Anne Eisenhower, the granddaughters of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, as well as others and spouses of military members and participants in Mrs. Obama's White House mentoring program.

The First Lady’s great idea got me thinking. I started searching for some ideas of where to have my own Mother’s Day tea party with my special own special guests – fellow moms in my family.  And, with some last-minute trip planning, you can plan a special Mother’s Day tea as well.

In the Obama’s hometown of Chicago, for instance, The Four Seasons Hotel, Chicago is featuring its “Well, La-Tea-Spa,” a special spa and afternoon tea day escape. On Mondays through Thursdays, now through Labor Day.

Moms can enjoy the Spa and Afternoon Tea at Seasons Lounge and receive half off the second spa treatment (of equal or lesser value) and half off the second tea.  The spa in Chicago welcomes hotel and non-hotel guests.
