Daunt: One of the Best!

Take one of the literary world's most famed destinations and throw in the fact that it's also one of the best connected international transportation hubs in the world and what do you get? London – home to not only some of the world's most beloved bookshops but also to a few of the world's very best travel bookshops. Whether you're in need of a little help making the most of your time in the UK, you're planning that big trip of a lifetime adventure or simply you're looking for something good to read, here are two of London's top bookshops bent on serving globe trekking bookworms on the go.

Daunt Books

83-84 Marylebone High Street, W1U 4QW
Nearest Tube Station: Baker Street

Even if you don't actually want to buy any books, a visit to Daunt Books in Marylebone is worth strong consideration. Located within its original Edwardian era shop, Daunt is a historic and beautiful destination in and of itself. And if you are hoping to pick up some travel titles, you're in luck. Daunt is widely regarded as one of the best travel related bookstores in the world. Here books are arranged geographically by relevant country. Can't find what you're looking for or have any particular questions? The staff is extremely knowledgeable and more than willing to help you out. Daunt Books has five other London branches in Belsize Park, Chelsea, Hampstead, Holland Park and near St Paul's Cathedral.

Stanfords
12-14 Long Acre, WC2E 9LP
Nearest Tube Station: Covent Garden or Leicester Square

When you need a guidebook for an upcoming trip, make a b-line for Stanfords. “Mapping your travels for over 150 years,” Stanfords has had its flagship shop near Covent Garden since back in 1901. Today the three storey bookshop is considered to be the world's largest travel bookshop.

Yes it is massive, but service is still personably. Beyond a wide selection of books for popular and far flung locales (with always lots of titles on sale), the shop has more travel related magazines and accessories on offer than most people would even realize actually exist and still does a great mapping service. They've got a lovely little cafe with free Wi-Fi too and even host an in-house travel agency. What a brilliant shop!

Now you know where to turn a page the next time you've got a flight to London!
