Just outside of Queenstown, Lake Wanaka is a definite stop in your New Zealand travels.  It’s a quiet sleepy lake town and offers a close getaway from all the hustle and bustle of busy Queenstown.  It’s full of picturesque hikes, lakes, and beautiful surroundings.  Where Queenstown offers bungee jumping, canyoning, and rafting, Lake Wanaka offers the opposite.  One thing it does have is the skydiving.  If by chance you get great weather (and I did) it is an incredible place to jump.  It was simply breathtaking.   So you can do it in the north island (for cheaper) or hedge your bets and go for the gold down south.  The weather is the key.  It’s very fickle on the south Island, but totally worth the risk if it works.  Queenstown has a better adventure selection, but it’s also very expensive.  So spend wisely my friends.
