Indianapolis International Airport

Monday was the busiest day on record for Indianapolis International Airport, according to multiple sources. One day removed from one of the most thrilling championship games in memory, the hub welcomed more than 25,000 passengers, about 10,000 more than an average Monday.

At one point, the airport was handling well over 1,000 passengers per hour. Most of the travelers streaming through the terminal had only positive things to say about Indianapolis and the way the city handled hosting its first Super Bowl.

Many could be spotted grabbing last-minute merchandise before hopping aboard flights home. Next up for the Super Bowl treatment? New Orleans. The Big Easy will host Super Bowl XLVII before handing the baton to New York City in 2014.
