Snow covered Dulles is expected to look much whiter come this weekend

Washington Dulles Airport is prepared for weekend snowstorm

The snow is coming and so are the canceled flights. While the mid-Atlantic braces for another nasty round with Mother Nature, airlines are chopping their schedule in preparation for what is sure to be a messy travel weekend.

Reagan National and Dulles International airports in Washington DC have prepared for the worst by placing down salt to assist in preventing snow and ice buildup.

United has canceled 375 flights for Saturday and Sunday travel, while Delta has done away with more than 200 flights including Delta connections in the mid-Atlantic region.

As mentioned earlier right here on the blog, most airlines are allowing travelers to rebook their weekend flights without suffering any penalties. Most waivers must be rescheduled to start by February 9 or within seven days of the original travel date.

As always passengers venturing out to travel this weekend should call their carriers before heading out to their area airport.
