The busiest airport in the Middle East soared to record numbers in July as Dubai International reported a 14.3 percent increased compared to the same time a year ago. 

That is a monthly record for Dubai's airport, which saw traffic surpass the four million passenger mark in one month for the first time ever.

That means an estimated 26.9 million people have passed through Dubai International in the first seven months of 2010. The total foot traffic in 2009 was 42 million.

Earlier this summer Dubai opened a second airport, the Dubai World Central-Al Maktoum International Airport. Upon opening the new hub was touted as the world's largest airport upon completion.
