"New Years 2010," (CC Flickr photo credit: Michael Asuncion)
Las Vegas goes big for New Year's Eve

New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas is a big deal. Hotels book out way in advance and cheap flights get snatched quicker than you can say “double down.” While the city is notoriously quiet the week before New Year’s Eve, on December 31, visitors can count on crowds everywhere.

Celebrating the New Year on The Strip has come to be the stuff bucket lists are made of. With revelers enjoying seemingly endless beverages while partying on the closed off Las Vegas Blvd. to packing the night clubs for champagne toasts at midnight, New Year’s in Sin City provides memories that will be talked about far beyond the stroke of midnight.

Restaurants stay open late and offer special menus. Fireworks go off from hotels up and down The Strip as Las Vegas hosts “America’s Party 2012.”

And then, there are the celebrities hosting parties at the nightclubs. This year, there’s a varied group of well-known’s hosting their own parties … for a price.

For those who haven’t gotten enough of the Kardashian clan, they are out in full-force this year. Kim’s hosting at TAO, Kourtney and Scott Disick are hosting at Planet Hollywood’s Gallery, and Rob is over at Tryst inside Wynn.

If ringing in 2012 with a Kardashian doesn’t strike your fancy, there are plenty of other options:

  • Haze at ARIA: Party-rockers LMFAO
  • The Bank at Bellagio: Bruno Mars
  • PURE at Caesars Palace: Chris Brown
  • Surrender at Encore: The Black Eyed Peas’ Will.I.Am
  • LAX at Luxor: B.O.B.
  • Studio 54 at MGM Grand: Pamela Anderson
  • Gallery at Planet Hollywood: Holly Madison
  • LAVO at Palazzo Las Vegas: DJ Samantha Ronson
  • 1OAK  at Mirage: Grand opening celebration with Fergie from The Black Eyed Peas

What else is going on?

Concerts: Fremont Street is celebrating the cover band with Tribute Palooza 4; John Legend is taking the stage at The Pearl inside The Palms; and Stevie Wonder is performing at The Chelasea inside of The Cosmopolitan.

There’s also the 2012 Big Air Jump with Stunt Man TJ Austin, who will attempt to break a Guinness World Record by jumping over a jet liner on a motorcycle near Mandalay Bay.
