Celebrate the Diamond Jubilee at Covent Garden, Flickr: shashwatThe Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is to be celebrated in grand style at London's famous Covent Garden and promises royal fun for all.

Performances by The London Gay Man’s Choir, a gourmet street food feast from Street Kitchen, “avant garde” ice cream and more - there will be lots to hear, eat, see and do. Indeed, Covent Garen is the perfect destination to soak up the jubilant summer atmosphere and be part of the celebrations in one of the London's most iconic locations.

Here are some highlights of the upcoming festivities:

• It started on May 23rd, the historic Covent Garden Market Building is adorned in hundreds of Union Jack flags making it the ideal picture opportunity and an atmospheric spot to shop or enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants and cafes.

• On Saturday June 2nd, the fabulous London Gay Men’s Chorus will entertain visitors with an exclusive live performance of “60 Queens for the Queen” with 60 members of the choir dressed in homage to her Royal Highness and performing a medley of tunes with a royal celebration theme.

• Renowned Street Kitchen will take up residence again on Covent Garden's Piazza, cooking gourmet food for Londoners to eat on the go. Served in take away boxes, their simple and healthy bistro style dishes use 100% UK ingredients sourced directly from farms, so the produce is super fresh and super tasty.

• Covent Garden's own The Icecreamists, London’s most avant-garde boutique ice cream parlour, have released “Jubilee Strawberry” flavor to mark the occasion.

• As during any summer weekend, free entertainment will be provided by Covent Garden’s world famous street performers who will remain in residence on the Piazza throughout the Jubilee weekend.

A short walking distance from Covent Garden Underground Station, Leicester Square and a number of popular attractions, Covent Garden is incredibly easy to reach from virtually anywhere in London. And be it the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations for the Queen or just another run of the mill day, it's an especially popular destination for shopping, dining, sightseeing and entertainment any time of the year.
