Eureka, California was hit with another earthquake

Eureka rocked by another earthquake

A powerful earthquake measuring 6.0 in magnitude struck offshore Northern California on Thursday. As of this post no injuries or damage were reported.

The United States Geological Survey said the earthquake struck at a depth of seven miles and a distance of 35 miles, west-northwest of Petrolia, California.

No tsunami warnings were triggered due to the quake, and local police and fire officials do not foresee any calls about damaged structures or injuries to occur.

When discussing what might be the biggest story to come out of this incident, Lt. Murl Harpham of the Eureka Police Department was quoted as saying, “spilled coffee is about the worst thing.”

This comes about a month after the same area was hit with a 6.5 magnitude earthquake on January 9.

That incident saw some buildings receive damage to the city’s downtown and forced more than 120 homeowners to begin taking down unsafe chimneys.
