More Americans are expected to travel during the upcoming Labor Day weekend than last year, according to a report released Wednesday by the auto group AAA.

This year travel is expected to increase by 9.9. percent from 2009 as Americans begin to recover from the recession.

As consumer confidence increases, the travel industry has seen spikes of improvement across the board in hotels, airlines and car rentals.

In 2010, nearly 34.4 million people will travel at least 50 miles away from home, that is up from 2009's 31.3 million travelers.

AA predicts 10.3 percent more Americans will travel via car for the holiday weekend, while 4.6 percent more will take to the air for Labor Day.
